God of Wealth

The God of Wealth is a general term for the deities who govern wealth in Chinese folk beliefs and traditional culture.  They symbolize good fortune and prosperity, embodying people's aspirations for a prosperous life.
The God of Wealth is not a single deity, but rather divided into two main categories: Civil Gods of Wealth and Martial Gods of Wealth. Civil Gods of Wealth are often depicted as dignified civil officials, such as Bi Gan and Fan Li, symbolizing thriving business and abundant wealth, and are suitable for worship in shops and studies. Martial Gods of Wealth are often depicted as powerful generals, such as Guan Yu and Zhao Gongming, symbolizing both attracting wealth and warding off evil, and are suitable for martial arts schools and businesses.
In folk customs, the belief in the God of Wealth is deeply embedded in New Year's traditions. Welcoming the God of Wealth is an important activity during the Spring Festival, and the custom of welcoming the God of Wealth on the fifth day of the first lunar month ("Po Wu") is widely practiced.  The image of the God of Wealth is also widely used in New Year's pictures, couplets, cultural and creative products, and e-commerce festive decorations, becoming a cultural symbol with both spiritual significance and aesthetic value.
