Nezha
Nezha is a well-known child deity in Chinese mythology, whose image blends Buddhist and Taoist culture with folk legends, evolving from a foreign guardian deity to a native hero.
He was originally the reincarnation of Lingzhuzi, the third son of Li Jing of Chentang Pass. After committing suicide by causing havoc in the sea, he was resurrected in a lotus form, possessing the supernatural powers of three heads and six arms (or three heads and eight arms). He wields a fire-tipped spear, rides on wind-fire wheels, and wears the Hun Tian Ling and Qian Kun Quan, making him a formidable warrior. In religion, Taoism reveres him as the Marshal of the Central Altar, while Buddhism considers him the prince of Vaishravana, the Heavenly King. In literature, works like *Investiture of the Gods* and *Journey to the West* portray him as a rebellious, demon-slaying young hero. In folk tradition, he is worshipped as a guardian deity who protects the sea and its people, ensuring peace and safety.
